The Pakistan Young Innovative Minds’ Society (PYIMS) is searching for Pakistan’s best young physicists to represent the country at the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) 2027 in Auckland, New Zealand — often called the “World Cup of Physics.”
This is not a quiz or an Olympiad. IYPT is a debate-style tournament where national teams from 40+ countries defend original research on open physics problems in live “physics fights.”
Many will apply. Five will fly. 
Who Can Apply?
Every pre-university learner in Pakistan — whether you’re at a school, college, or homeschooled. No minimum grade, board, or institution requirement. Selection is purely merit-based.
University students are not eligible per IYPT rules.

The Selection Path — 8 Steps to Auckland

Step 1: Registration (by 31 Oct 2026)
Sign up on the portal. Open to all pre-university students across Pakistan.
Step 2: Online Mentoring (ongoing from day one)
Every registered student gets access to structured mentoring and problem-solving resources.
Step 3: AI-Proctored Online Test (2nd week of Nov 2026)
Take it from home, anywhere in Pakistan. Transparent, merit-based national ranking.
Step 4: Mystery Box Challenge (late Nov – early Dec 2026)
Top 1000 students are invited to on-site experimental physics challenges in major cities across Pakistan.
Step 5: Week-Long Boot Camp (from 20 Dec 2026)
Up to 50 students attend a fully hosted residential boot camp at Lumora International School, Islamabad.
Step 6: Month-Long Residency (March 2027)
Top 10 get an all-expenses-paid month in Islamabad — intensive training on real IYPT problems.
Step 7: Team Pakistan Selected (May 2027)
The final five are announced as Pakistan’s national team.
Step 8: IYPT 2027, Auckland 
(July 2027)
Fully funded: flights, accommodation, and tournament entry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be from a big city or a famous school?
No. The first round is online and proctored — take it from any city or village. In-person rounds are held in major cities. Qualification is based only on your ranking.
How many students can apply from my school?
As many as possible! Students participate individually, not as teams.
Can I really compete on an international stage?
Yes. Prior tournament experience is not required. Training and mentoring are provided at multiple stages.
